Those Fabulous Poles - Home stretch, Marseille on Tuesday
The Mistral wind weakened a little today and Warta Polpharma should run into some nice sailing weather for the last hours of her race.
Here in Marseille, the public and lots of friends, family and journalists are waiting for the crew to arrive to welcome the valiant Poles.
Warta Polpharma will be mooring up alongside the pontoon in front of the Town Hall, where the prize-giving podium will be set up.

Monday night: variable wind of force 3 from the north-west, freshening to force 5 throughout the night. Waves insignificant tonight, from the north-west 0.5 to 1 meters.
Tuesday: wind from the north-west freshening to force 7 then from the west, north-west for the approach to Marseille. Waves from the north-west 1 to 2 meters.

In consultation with The Race committee, the boat was granted a time allowance based amongst other things on the course diversion, the weather conditions and the time spent at the dockside. The stop in Wellington added to the time allowance of seven hours they received when they stopped in Gibraltar.

Team Legato - 'the Survivors' - still beating upwind
Team Legato is 200 miles away from Gibraltar which they should pass tomorrow morning. Team Legato has been sailing almost exclusively upwind since the Falklands. Only passing through the Strait of Gibraltar might free them from this point of sail.
Weather for Team Legato:
Monday night: wind from the north-east force 4 to 5, then north-east weakening to force 4 tonight to Gibraltar. Waves from the north 1.5 to 2 meters.
Tuesday: wind from the east, force 4 weakening and becoming variable force 3 by midday. Waves insignificant.
