Team Adventure was planning to leave mid-day Thursday, however is delayed due to weather conditions. Headwinds are blowing hard over the shoals off the southern tip of Africa, whipping up a nasty sea.

Team Adventure's Rick Deppe(team cameraman and communications expert) who decided to bail citing 'personal reasons' is a professional sailor, he sailed in the Worrell 1000 last year on Team Pyacht

The Worrell 1000 is the nautical Tour de France of beach cats, conducted on 20 foot beach cats, the Inter 20 by Performance Catamarans. 1000 miles of course is sailed over 12 days, spanning from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Jeffrey Wargo, Team Adventure: "The last thing I remember is adjusting my harness, sitting comfortably in Team Adventure’s cockpit. I was at the top of the steps, just about to come on deck. We were making 30 knots and the boat suddenly crashed very violently, nearly stopping. When I came to I was 13 feet further down the galley bulkhead. Someone was slapping me in the face. I stayed awake for two minutes and then passed out again". He has suffered 30% reduction fracture on the front of his L1 vertebra and requires at least one month’s total rest and a re-education programme lasting nearly four years. "I should be able to sail again in 6 months. I will keep in touch with the crew and work for Team Adventure on dry land".

Club Med is between the highs and is increasing her lead in terms of longitude, sailing with reefed main, small spinnaker and gennaker.

Innovation Explorer is between calms and strong breezes and will have to push further south to catch the south westerlies and avoid a high pressure system coming in from the north. This means taking a less direct route than Club Med because it is essential for Loïck Peyron to stay within a band of 30-40 knots of wind and in light airs their sail plan is not the best.

Xavier Dagault (Innovation Explorer): "Weather grey and overcast, freezing rain, light winds, slow speed. We doused the spinnaker this morning to repair and reinforce a few tears (a few minor rips in the leech). We have just hoisted it again, but the wind is falling rather badly, I don't know if it will fill in these light airs. It is now so patched that it reminds me of Kevin Costner's boat in Waterworld. Morale is excellent. Loïck (Peyron) is magic. He knows how to get the best out of the men in an atmosphere that is both merry and concentrated".

Warta-Polpharma are heading east, the 25-knot westerly is finally filling their sails, they had to go around a large dome of high-pressure that blocked their route south.

there is speculation that Warta Polpharma may stop at either Cape Town or Wellington to repair their faulty satellite communication system.

Team Legato has 600 miles to go before reaching the roaring forty's.
