Club Med's team leader, Neal MacDonald, starts work for Peter Harrison's GBR Challenge of America's Cup on Monday. Team Adventure projected finish:

Team Adventure, Entertainment Extreme - soon to tack east to Gibraltar
Team Adventure is finally free of the northeasterly winds that were forcing them away from Gibraltar. They have chosen to continue to head north to avoid any nasty surprises from the ridge of high pressure. Team Adventure will be in a south-southwesterly wind that will increase steadily over the next 24 hours to reach 35/40 knots, and a heavy swell of 10-13 ft. They are expected to tack east some time tomorrow.

Co-skipper Larry Rosenfeld: "We can finally turn east. And both boat and crew are tired, we still expect to reach Marseilles on the night of March 23rd."

Lionel Lemonchois: "We are back to superb conditions. 20/30 knots, smooth seas and genoa. We have really been stuck for the past few days - sometimes averaging one or two knots. Now we have caught the edge of the high pressure system. It’s all go on deck; they are hoisting the staysail as well as the genoa. We can’t wait to get back."

Warta Polpharma projected finish:

Those Fabulous Poles - beating upwind
Warta-Polpharma is in the same northeast headwinds that Team Adventure suffered in.

Roman Paszke: "We have a little more confidence in the weather conditions today. Of course we won't pass through in conditions as good as Club Med or Innovation Explorer, but the situation is looking better than we feared these last few days. We are looking for the best possible crossing point for the Doldrums, at around longitude 30°. We just have a few problems with the sails to cope with".

Team Legato projected finish:

Team Legato - 'the Survivor's' - losing time
The crucial thing for Team Legato at the moment is to avoid getting caught against the coast of Brazil. This part of the course, off the coast of Brazil, has been awkward for all of the challengers to negotiate, with its light and unstable winds. That was what cost Warta-Polpharma a days sailing towards the east to get on to the right line. They must get to the north-northwesterly airflow to their north.

Bullimore: "They are driving the boat as best as they can. We're lucky with the weather at the moment, we could be having light airs, but on the contrary we are enjoying strong winds. As soon as we pick up the trades we hope to be able to cross the Equator and the Doldrums rapidly. We are very motivated to finish this race on time."

Team Legato must finish in 17 days - before 20:56 GMT on Monday 2 April. She has covered 172.1 miles in the last 24 hours, below the 322 miles needed daily.

As of today they are now in the red regarding the required mileage to meet the deadline.
