Team Adventure projected finish:

Team Adventure, Entertainment Extreme - making great speed
Lewis had been prevented from taking the direct route towards the Mediterranean by unfavorable weather, they are still heading north. They are 820 miles away from Tarifa, the southernmost point of Spain.

Jean-Yves Bernot: "We have 30 knots of wind and quite big seas. Everything is fine aboard; the weather is good; the boat is running well. We really can’t complain! I think we should reach Marseilles some time during the day on the 23rd. We will encounter some light airs in the Strait of Gibraltar and then fairly moderate conditions in the Mediterranean. Quite good conditions for the season."

Warta Polpharma projected finish:

Those Fabulous Poles - Major Port Bow Damage, Heading to Brazil for Repairs
Warta-Polpharma is out of the Race possibly due to compression failure that occured at 8 PM Sunday night. There is a large crack in the port hull running from deck-level to 1.3 ft above water-level, six feet in front of the main beam. They have reinforced the crack with mainsail battens laminated over it that they have had attached to the inside of the hull to make up for the loss of resistance and strength of the structure of the boat.

They are now heading to Fortaleza, Brazil, 700 miles away, sailing with the wind behind them to keep the strain on the hulls (very great when sailing upwind) to a minimum.

The direction change can be seen from the map images.

At 8.00 pm GMT last night Warta-Polpharma’s crew heard a cracking sound from the direction of the port hull. Dariusz Drapella said on the phone that he could not really say what had happened because they cannot inspect the damaged outside part of the hull.

Yann Penformis from the Multiplast yard in Vannes, France: "The initial repairs that Roman Paszke and his men have made seem satisfactory. If they sail downwind in winds of less than 40 knots they should be all right. The crack looks worse than it is. We are sending Jack Michel, from our research team. He will arrive in Fortaleza in three days, at the same time as the Poles. As long as the crack doesn’t get any bigger, we should be able to make the necessary repairs without hauling the boat out. In that case, the whole job should take less than three days."

Considering they must reach Marseille in 16 days or less (before April 2nd), and they are currently about 10 days outside of Marseille, there is a slight chance that they might make it to Marseille before the deadline, but it does not look good.

Team Legato projected finish:

Team Legato - 'the Survivor's' - equator in 5 days
Team Legato is 150 miles off of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and should reach the equator in 5 days.

Their weather routers say that there is a narrow band of light winds extending more than 1,100 miles east of the Brazilian coast which they have to cross before reaching the Trade Winds - hopefully tomorrow. Then they have the promise of fast reaching conditions for the remaining 2,000 miles up to the equator where Team Legato hope to regain what they have lost.

Team Legato must finish in 16 days - before 20:56 GMT on Monday 2 April. Team Legato must cover 337 miles daily.
