Team Adventure, Entertainment Extreme - FINISHED!
21 days after Club Med, Cam Lewis and his 8 teammates have crossed the finish line at 9 AM 21 minutes 2 seconds GMT, watched by Innovation Explorer and a hundred or so following boats. They were under double reef and staysail. Innovation Explorer accompanied Team Adventure to the harbour, as Club Med had done for her on her arrival. The spectator boats following behind.

The maxi-cat is now at the winners dock in front of city hall. After a few minutes with their friends and family, Cam Lewis and his teammates received their prize on the podium, a smaller version of the award that Innovation Explorer received. Next was the press conference at the Village of Navigators.

Congratulations to Cam Lewis (USA), Larry Rosenfeld (USA), Randy Smyth (USA), Jean-Yves Bernot (F), Jacques Vincent (F), Lionel Lemonchois (F), Philippe Peche (F), Fred Carrere (F), Fred Brousse (F).

The following teammates who left part way through are not to be forgotten: Rob Miles (USA), Yann Eliès (F), Mickaël Lundh (Su), Jeffrey Wargo (USA), Rick Deppe (USA).

Miles covered : 29773
Average speed : 14.97 knots
Duration : 82 days, 20 hours, 21 minutes, 2 seconds.

Jacques Vincent and Philippe Peché on the boat: "Apart from the delamination problems with the main beam fairing we didn't break anything and the sails are in excellent shape, even though we were attempting a first by taking sails in cuben fibre around the world."

Team Legato projected finish:

Team Legato - 'the Survivors' - has taken 4th place
Team Legato has taken 4th place, leading Warta Polpharma by 130 miles. They should be able to extend this lead as Warta Polpharma has to do some navigating out of Brazil before they can make the equator their target.

The end to The Race will be a cat fight to the finish! A fitting end to the most exciting no holds barred, multihull round the world race.

Team Legato has covered 367.5 nm in the last 24 hours.
They are currently 3314 nm from the finish, which they must reach in 9 days.
To make the finish they must cover 368 miles per day.

Warta Polpharma projected finish:

Those Fabulous Poles - Back Under Way!
Dariusz Drapella: "We haven't yet received the mainsail cars that we are expecting from France. Never mind, we'll do without, we are used to it. We are still in the race and we don't want to loose a minute more, despite the extraordinary reception the Brazilians have afforded us here."

Darius could not find words strong enough to thank the people who have helped them down there and namely a certain Juliano, who managed to sort out all the problems that the Poles came up against during this forced stopover in Fortaleza. "We would like to thank him a thousand times and we would dearly love to welcome him aboard another time, and congratulations to Team Adventure, we are happy that the third boat has reached port safely".

Warta Polpharma has covered 278.4 nm in the last 24 hours.
They are currently 3444 nm from the finish, which they must reach in 9 days.
To make the finish they must cover 382 miles per day.
