The closing parade of the giant catamarans will continue as originally scheduled on Saturday, March 31st in and around the Old Port in Marseilles. The "Three Sisters" will sail together, escorted by hundreds of sailing yachts.

This will be a big celebration Marseille style, this city with such a long sailing history.

A press release from The Race headquarters in Paris last week read: "For the two other competitors, The Race goes on. It is obvious these two boats will be finishing The Race out of time (deadline 30 days after the finish of the first, or 2 April 2001), this rule having been defined by the challengers themselves."

"However, the organizers have decided to leave the line open to allow the boats to finish in Marseille, come what may, even if it is quite clear the challengers will be continuing to race under their own responsibilities as from 2 April. The boats will be declared finished, fourth and fifth, out of the time limits."

Team Legato projected finish:

Team Legato - 'the Survivors' - further east
Bullimore: "Our router predicted that we would be picking up the trades from about latitude 2° or 3° North. In fact we picked them up at about 1.5° North, after having been drenched in torrential rain. The most difficult will be navigating well along the route."

"Conditions onboard are quite pleasant. It's warm, sunny and though we are beating to windward, the seas are not that rough and Team Legato is handling them well. The winds are around 14 knots true, 20 knots apparent and we are making 10-12 knots."

Team Legato has covered 272.2 nm in the last 24 hours.

Warta Polpharma projected finish:

Those Fabulous Poles - protecting the port hull
Roman Paszke: "We are sailing north and quite far west. We have 20 knots of wind but we are avoiding sailing too close to the wind because we don’t want the port hull to be under strain. The people from Multiplast [original builders and designers of Warta] advised us not to do so for four or five days and to avoid contact with waves. We know we won’t finish before the end of The Race, so it is better not to push too hard. When we reach 15 degrees north, we will start to head east - not before. At the moment we are enjoying the great sailing conditions. It is sunny, the temperature is 26°C. It’s better than in Poland!"

Warta Polpharma has covered 276.8 nm in the last 24 hours.
