Boat Damage on Finishers
Boat Damage on finishers

The closing parade of the giant catamarans occurred Saturday around the Old Port in Marseille. The "Three Sisters" sail together by the beaches of the Corniche, were spectators watched, they were escorted by between 800 and 1000 sailing yachts.

There is still very little news anywhere on any of the websites, I wonder if everyone is partying...

Team Legato projected finish:

Team Legato - 'the Survivors' - mast-step ball joint broken
Team Legato's mast-step ball joint upon which the mast is stepped broke and the mast moved downwards, remaining more or less vertical, in what was a dreadful din. The crew grabbed the shrouds to prevent the boat from dismasting altogether.

Team Legato is heading for Las Palmas, Canaries where she will call in for repairs.

Carbo Spars based at the Hamble England, is currently making a replacement part which will be flown out ready for their arrival in Las Palmas.

Bullimore: "We hope to be in and out inside 8hours, the damage has not slowed us down but needs to be repaired to avoid further problems."

Warta Polpharma projected finish:

Those Fabulous Poles - gaining on Team Legato

Polpharma is continuing north and should be getting into Gibraltar roughly a week from now. With 2364 miles to go to Marseille, the Polish boat is making about 12 knots or so. Over the next few days, they will have to find their way through the Azores High, which ought to be the last strategic challenge of the course.
