Team Legato - 'the Survivors' - Repairs finished in Las Palmas

Team Legato arrived in Las Palmas at 10:30 PM Thursday, was repaired for 5 and a half hours, then back at sea by 4 AM.

Once in port, Legato shore manager Ron Hansford supervised the lidting of the mast via a mobile crane.

Once the mast was raised by 4 inches, the damaged mast foot ball joint heel dropped out easily.

Taking advantage of the stop, the electronic equipment was checked and an alternator that had not worked since Wellington was repaired.

Bullimore: "Everybody's done a fantastic job to turn us around so quickly. Carbo Spars have been brilliant and it's great the local Spanish engineers and crane driver were prepared to work through the night."

We can now go flat out to try and catch the Poles on Warta Polpharma over the last 1,500 miles back to Marseille. We have the confidence now to really push the boat and we'll just have to see what happens."
