Those Fabulous Poles - in the Mediterranean
Warta Polpharma passed through Gibraltar Straits Saturday at 8:37 PM GMT.

They had a westerly wind rising to 30 knots in the 20 mile wide passage. And similarly to her predecessors, she went through a short period of light winds before regaining some speed.

Weather for Warta Polpharma:
Monday: variable wind force 2 freshening to force 3 to 4 by midday. Waves from the north, north-east 1 to 2 meters.
Tuesday: wind from the west, north-west force 4 freshening to force 6 to 7 from the north-west by midday. Waves from the north-west 2 to 3 meters.

Saturday night, Warta Polpharma crossed the Polish ship Pogoria. Many messages were exchanged with the Pogoria's captain.

Darius Drapella showing his sense of humour to Pegoria's captain: "I would have loved to have climbed aboard, just to see some other faces than the crew with which I have been sailing now for more than 90 days".

With their 476 miles lead on Team Legato, and their 14 hour time credit for the two unpenalized stops to repair the Immarsat B, 4th place is guaranteed for Warta Polpharma.

In consultation with The Race committee, the boat was granted a time allowance based amongst other things on the course diversion, the weather conditions and the time spent at the dockside. The stop in Wellington added to the time allowance of seven hours they received when they stopped in Gibraltar.

They have 14 hours of time credit that will be applied at the end of the race for the two unpenalized stops.

Team Legato - 'the Survivors' - beating upwind

Team Legato is making very little ground, having only covered 124.9 miles in the last 24 hours, less that Saturday. They have been struggling at 4 knots, but have recently attained 7 knots. These conditions have caused a reassessment of their arrival to Thursday or Friday.

Weather for Team Legato:
Monday: wind from the north-east force 5 weakening to force 4 by midday. Waves from the north 2 to 3 meters.
Tuesday: wind from the east, north-east force 4 weakening force 2 to 3 by midday. Waves from the north-east less than 1 meters.
