New Venue Selected for Performance Race Week 2004 - Tybee Island, Georgia

June 25, 2004 -- This year a new venue was selected for Performance Race Week, the North American Championships for Nacra, Prindle and Inter catamarans. Tybee Island, Georgia was chosen for several reasons, the most impressive being the success of the Tybee 500 this past May. The organizers of the Tybee 500 have agreed to work with Performance Catamarans to bring new energy into Performance Race Week to be held October 4th though 7th.

³We anticipate this new location being a favorite for future championships², said Jack Young of Performance Catamaran ³Weıve already gotten positive feedback with regards to the weather, accommodations and island activities.²

The race site is just off the Host Hotel The Beachside Colony and is within three miles. Itıs a great place to watch from the beach or the balcony of your room. The course is a triangle course using the US Sailing Multihull Courses.

Tybee Island has been recognized as an affordable seaside resort community with fun for the entire family. Watch dolphins, observe the coastal marsh, join in one of the many fishing excursions, explore a Civil Water battle site, and discover the Tybee Island Lighthouse and Museum. There are plenty of nature trails, bird watching, art galleries, kayak and bike rentals, and a great Marine Science Center with aquariums and ³touch tanks². With basketball and tennis courts, picnic areas, a skate park and baseball field, youıll never have a moment to spare at Tybee Island.

The Host Hotel is the Beachside Colony (www.beachsidecolony.com) (800) 786-0770 Toll Free; (912) 786-4535 which is offering 1,2 and 3 bedroom condos for Performance Race Week participants at a great rate.
