Mystere 4.3 selected as boat for 2002 USSA Youth Cat National Championship | [Print] [Close] |
|
Yves Sansoucy, President of Mystere International, near Montreal, Quebec has agreed to provide twenty new Mystere 4.3s for use at the 2002 USSA Youth Cat National Championship. This is for a completely equipped boat with two sets of trapezes, a mylar mainsail, dacron jib, spinnaker, and snuffer. THE DEAL
THE BOAT
This is a great boat to teach someone to sail due to: its simplicity and adaptability (can be sailed cat rigged, sloop rigged, or either of those with spinnaker), it’s easy to handle on shore and in the water even solo, and it is large enough for double-handed racing or cruising with four. It is easily righted by a single, small adult or two children. It has high stability yet its narrow hulls are easily driven to high speeds and the smooth hull/deck joint with rounded forward deck provide excellent resistance to pitchpoling. It is a great boat for experienced racers to learn, or improve, spinnaker handling techniques. It also allows adults to be able to sail more often since they can safely sail alone and can handle everything on or off the water. It rewards the experienced helm with sports car like steering - so quick that the spinnaker sheet can be cleated as the helm steers to trim the spinnaker instead of playing the sheet. Compare all these features and price to retail prices of $3800 for a new Hobie Wave (mainsail only) or $6500 for a new Nacra 4.5 (without spinnaker). This is a great boat for a bargain price and a way to directly help get youth sailors into beach cat racing! With the high versatility and the low price, this is a great choice for a second cat for existing owners! The boats will be available at Port Clinton Yacht Club in Port Clinton, Ohio immediately following the regatta on Sunday, July 14th, 2002. Note:
This coordination is being done on a voluntary, unpaid, basis to help introduce Junior Sailors into beach cat racing, to pass on savings directly to the owners, and to have more of the Mystere 4.3s to sail with in the area. He coordinated a thirty boat Mystere 4.3 deal last year that introduced the boat to North America on the same volunteer basis. You can visit the Mystere owners’ website for more

Please contact Mike with any concerns or questions and not Mystere directly. Mystere International is being very generous with this deal and we want to show them our appreciation as much as possible. | ||||||||||||||||
