PlayStation's Challenge Steve Fossett on PlayStation Challenges Speed Record [Print]   [Close]


PlayStation will be attempting to break the speed record of 2 days 22 hours 50 mins 16 secs from Miami to New York. This is presently held by Explorer which was co-skippered by Bruno Peyron of France and Cam Lewis of USA and set on 2 June 1999.

The projected departure time for the attempt is at the end of April.

The boat has undergone repairs in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and some modifications. However, there has been no disclosure of what those modifications are.

Damage in The Race was a broken daggerboard and a 3 foot rip in the mainsail at the first reef clew.
