Foiling boats - what a rush!
The Windrider Rave blends speed, reliability and practicality. Manoeverability is excellent, and it performs well in light air.
If SPEED is your thing...
You climb into the Rave's cockpit, your feet are on steering pedals. Initially you sail on the hulls. As you accelerate to high enough speeds to generate lift, the Rave raises on the foils and the hulls leave the water's surface. Foil sensors carry the Rave smoothly over choppy waters. Drag disappears and speed dramatically increases. Each outrigger foil has a small elevator that automatically controls its pitch and the Raves height above the water causing the Rave to be unaffected by waves and chop. You steer with your feet sail controls are close at hand, the jib is self tacking. Now you must concentrate on your flight path. The Rave smoothly rushes towards speeds of up to 30 mph. Feeling brave? Try out some flying gybes and high-G turns - what a rush!
Introduced in 1998, hulls are rugged, polyethylene. Foil and sub-frames are built from anodized marine aluminum. Foils and rudder retract to allow beaching or shallow water sailing. Sail material is Mylar, the mainsail is fully battened, hardware is Harken. The mast is stayed and rotating.
