Leg 2 Results - shows results for the day and overall.
Team Dinghy shop left the beach and avoided being t-boned by Fully Involved, who had their jib in too tight at the start and scream down the beach line right in front of us. They then rounded up into the wind and dumped, but not before making contact with the next boat to the south. This resulted in a small hole in Fully Involved's bow. They also broke a number of battons.
The team rocked today. After starting from 14th place, they moved all the way to 2nd place half way through the leg. They held this position until the last mile, and dropped back to 3rd, just behind Tybee Island.
The boat ran well after a very hectic start. It seemed as if all the teams (and even the race committee) where a little slow this morning, and many crews where rushing to get their boat down the beach and race ready.
The boys did well today. While the beach crew returned a rental car, got diesel fuel, waited at a million red (long) lights in Ft. Lauderdale, the boat screamed up to Jensen Beach.
As the boats emerged from the haze, we could see through the binoculars that Team Alexander was in the lead, followed by Tybee Island. Next, and right behind was Dinghy Shop.
There is no damage to the boat and Kevin is doing some minor maintenance in the bottom of the dagger board wells.
Tomorrow, we head to Cocoa Beach.
The Worrell 1000 also has its own writer, Zach Leonard. Zach is an accomplished sailor and writer. Please keep an eye on his articles at http://www.worrell1000.com.
Reigh North: "Trav down, trav down, trav down".
Scott MacDonald: "Just keep driving the boat Reigh, we are kicking ass, just keep driving".
Catherine Howell: "Holy s**t, they are in 3rd place".
Team Australia is on the beach with two broken daggerboards, ground crew in route, we think they are still intending to finish.
It is blowing 20-25 due east, and the tide is coming in. surf line is where the boats are parked, as far back as they can go.
Pyacht Women - they called the coast guard, maybe an hour ago, but then they found the beach. They had problems seeing because of salt in their eyes.
