10:09 PM, Mike Walker I am at Isle of Palms, winds are from the south-east, I have very close to the west of me a line of thunderstorms. I am expecting the wind to go north once that passes.
I am getting a lightening flash every 60 seconds are so.
The approach here is difficult.
The boats must navigate past a 3 mile line semi submerged jetty, and then turn left at about 0 degrees to the finish line.
I can maybe see with the binoculars a couple of miles, that is not great visibility. It is not well lit, no moon, overcast.
The leading edge of the front is right at us and the wind has let up.
The Dinghy Shop has a "Fund the Mast" mast replacement program, we need $5,000. CAN.
Donations would be graciously accepted. The donations are $30. and you get a Worell t-shirt.

6:20 PM, Mike Walker "Okay, they are off the beach okay, Started in 9th position.
"Guidant started in #1 position, at the north end of the line with a south wind was able to pull the chute and hold the boat on the beach for 30 seconds prior to the start. That allowed them to get away right away and boogy off below the fleet. We started in the crowd and had ah to manoevre thru the crowd, but we're looking good. I am on my way to Isle of Palms."
"Apparently 3 boats dumped 5 minutes from the start."
4:44 PM, Mike Walker: "Winds out of the south-southeast 15 knots, should be a chute run most of the way, there is a threat of a front going through winds veering to north, and with that some thunderstorms. Nothing incredibly serious in terms of weather. If the wind builds we could break Randy Smyth's records from last year but not likely. Ad, ah, we are starting at position 9."
