Leg 9 Results - shows results for the night leg and overall. Team Dinghy Shop arrived at 6:02 PM, after a rough day, in 16th place. This dropped them from 5th to 7th place. A commonplace problem for all of the teams has been broken rudders. Sailing with a damaged rudder is no easy feat, good going guys! Karen-Ann Mike Walker, Team Manager after the finish You last heard that the team dumped the boat shortly after the start, with the kite up and lost about 10 minutes while righting the boat. They had managed to close the gap as they approached Cape Fear. At that point, one of the upper pins on the Starboard rudder broke. Scott and Reigh had to beach the boat right at Cape Fear and make some field repairs. By stealing a bolt from one of the foot straps they where able to reattach the top part of the rudder to the hull and limp to the finish. A great bit of work by both Scott and Reigh to ensure that their down time was limited. But, this did cost us some time and we have now moved to 7th place overall. Still, impressive for a pair of Worrell 1000 rookies. Thanks to those that have contributed to the Replace the Mast fund. Everyone's support has been a great boost to the team. 3:06 PM, Mike Walker: Crew called from Cape Fear with a broken rudder. They have completed temporary repairs and have pushed off at 3 PM.
